The new album for Reference Recordings 'Break The Chain' is being mastered. We just got the photos for the cover and booklet the other day and they look great. We're looking at an early summer release and you know we'll keep you posted. Here's a photo of the fellas that made the music on the album:

Front: Oliver Brown (percussion), Yours truly, Jimi Bott (drums)

Back: Denny Croy (bass)  & Jesse MacLeod (guitar and vocals)

Now for some news on the DVD - 'Dubb's Front Porch'. When I get back from Canada, I'll be devoting most of my time to buttoning this one up. I know it's taken a while, but there's a lot of good stuff there and we want to make sure it's right.

Plus, a Blues Hall of Fame Member, who I have admired for years and loved to play his music when I was the host of 'Nothin' But The Blues' on KKJZ, has just agreed to do the voice over for this project. Who is it? I ain't tellin'!  Is that a tease? Damn right it is! You just gonna' have to stay tuned! Well now, I got to pack. Leaving sunny Southern California for the frosty climes of Quebec and Ontario. Wonder, where did I put those flannel pajamas?

THE YEAR

Me and my lady Patti Joy with the 2016 Blues Music Award for Acoustic Artist Of The Year. With all the really talented acoustic artists in this category - it's a great honor.

With newly inducted Blues Hall of Fame member Elvin Bishop. We think it was Elvin's vote that put me over the top. :-)

Active since the mid-1980s and with about two dozen entries in his discography, Doug MacLeod sets up camp in a rare niche of storytelling bluesman that are attuned to the textures and rhythms of life.  On this excursion, the wry Californian's distinctive singing voice and straight-talking guitar comment on a "rough-and-tumble" woman, staying true to oneself, the road back home, the splendor of the Blue Ridge Mountains and more. Subtle and firm support is supplied by seasoned pros Mike Thompson on piano, Denny Croy on bass and Jim Botti on drums.
